Course Information
The - Advancing in Maternity Safety (AIMS) is a theoretical and practical course designed to assist health professionals in developing and maintaining the knowledge and practical skills to manage emergencies that may arise in maternity care.
The AIMS Course teaches advanced skills and it is imperative that participants have experience in the normal aspects of maternity care, especially normal labour and birth as these will not be taught on the AIMS course.
A good grounding and experience in normal birth are important to be able to apply the AIMS knowledge and skills.
- AMaRE recommends that junior medical officers have had at least 12 months in obstetric practice before doing AIMS
- Any practitioner actively working in maternity care are recommended to do an AIMS course every 4 - 5 years
